When Prince Harry left the royal folds, the devastating consequences he had to undergo were quite stressful for the 6th-in-line to the throne.
One of the biggest sacrifices the royal had to do was give up several of his honorary military title, which, according to royal experts, cause a lot of pain for the Prince.
In one of his last appearances for the royal firm, the Duke of Sussex revealed in his speech that he had ‘no choice’ when it comes to his military titles.
As part of the terms of agreement for his and Meghan Markle’s exit from their royal responsibilities, the following titles: Captain-General of the Royal Marines, Honorary Air Force Commandant of the Royal Air Force Base Honington, and Honorary Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Naval Commands' Small Ships and Diving.
There have been several reports that Prince Harry’s ‘Captain General’ title will be handed to Prince William instead after the Major General of the Royal Marines pleaded that a new Captain General be instituted.
These have led to reports that Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship has further deteriorated due to the offer.
Thompson, who spoke to DailyMail UK regarding the issue, was said to have spoken out of pocket.
In response to the reports published by the tabloid, Harry’s own team warned the Mail, claiming that their take on the issue is ‘false and defamatory.’
But royal expert Robert Lacey told Best Life that Harry’s honorary military titles, especially that of Captain-General has been kept open until the Sandringham Summit will take place again, wherein senior royals will go over Harry and Meghan’s civilian ventures.
"As I understand it, in the spirit of the year's agreement, Harry's military appointments will be kept open for him during that period," Lacey said.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been rumored to return to the UK in the coming months, but this has all been just hearsays.
As for what happens with Harry’s honorary military titles, only the Queen can revoke and reinstate them, and it seems like the decision will be made not until next year after the summit.
Right now, Prince Harry is concentrating on his commercial ventures with Meghan Markle in America. They have been very successful with their speaking gigs and struck a megawatt deal with streaming giant Netflix.
The royal pair has massively been unpopular in the UK since their exit from the royal family, so prospects of Harry getting back his military titles are bleak.
