Prince Charle’s reign is inevitable and the British people understand that things will change under Charle’s rule of England.
Despite the Prince having been the longest heir apparent in the British monarchy's history, his popularity has always been a big problem for the royal.
Rumors of the Palace preparing Prince Charles to take over the throne has been staggering in the past years. Recently, he has been given several of the Queen’s engagements.
But according to a poll commissioned by YouGov, the Prince’s popularity over the year has not been rising despite the royal contracting Corona Virus. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson contracted a severe strain of the virus and saw his popularity increase.
The poll revealed that Prince Charles is only popular with 59% of Britons, while a staggering 35% think negatively of the heir.
On the other hand, Queen Elizabeth has a whopping 83% positive votes, a huge difference from his oldest son.
Royal experts weighed on the poll’s results. Richard Fitzwilliam explains that the staggering negative votes towards Prince Charles could be because he has been the longest heir apparent and that his responsibilities do not cater to his capabilities.
Talking to Express UK, Fitzwilliam expressed that Prince Charles has not yet peaked in popularity and most likely will take over the throne.
Fitzwilliam also tackled Prince Charles's situation right now, wherein the Prince was said to have meddled in political affairs.
The royal expert explained that when Charles becomes King, he will stick to what he is allowed to do constitutionally, which is only to advise, encourage and warn the Prime Minister in their weekly meeting.
“When he becomes King, he will, in my opinion ‒ and he is now in agreement with us ‒ that the role is constitutionally, to advise, to encourage and to warn,” a royal expert said.
As for the possibility of Prince William taking over the crown instead of Prince Charles, the experts debunked the rumor saying that the Queen would not allow such a scandal.
The popularity of Prince William and Kate Middleton over Prince Charles as the prospected monarchs in the coming years is said to all boil down in the ages.
Fitzwilliam explains that the Cambridges are more popular due to the fact that they are younger and more exciting to watch.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity has gone down severely in the Poll’s results.
