Fans of Demi Lovato and her former show on Disney 'Sonny with a Chance' were in for a treat when she had a virtual reunion with her co-stars just this Saturday.
According to ET Online, the 27-year-old Lovato was joined by her co-stars Tiffany Thornton, Sterling Knight, Allisyn Ashley, Audrey Whitby, and more. Demi played the role of Sonny Munroe, who joined the cast of the show So Random. She went on to play the part of Sonny for two seasons but checked into treatment for personal struggles after season 2 and did not return. The show went on to have the spin-off 'So Random' which aired only for one season. The show ended in 2012 but the stars reunited this Saturday because the show is streaming on Disney+ this April.
During the virtual reunion, Lovato was honest that she was actually suffering from an eating disorder while they were filming, aside from feeling overworked. But she was good-natured about her struggles. When co-star Arm asked what everyone had been doing since the show ended, she was quick to answer that she had gone to rehab more than once. She did lavish some praise to co-star Thornton, who she considered an inspiration. She claims that she considered Thronton an inspiration as she was able to deal with the pressures of being on television.
Lovato was only 19 years old when she left the show and went into treatment. This would also not be the last time that she would go into rehab. She has been in and out of treatment for several reasons, including depression, alcoholism, and even cocaine addiction.
In 2018, she released a song that revealed that she had relapsed after being sober for six years. Barely a month after the release of her song 'Sober', she had an opioid overdose and was rushed to the hospital. She was also suffering from bulimia at this time. She was able to recover and then entered into rehab again.
She was able to return to singing at the beginning of the year, making a comeback with her song 'Anyone'. She was able to perform it at the Grammy Awards, her first performance since she took her hiatus in 2018. Since then she has not only sung the national anthem at the Super Bowl but was also able to release a new single. Just last week she also released a collab with none other than Sam Smith entitled 'I'm Ready'.
