As the divorce battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt gets bitterer, there has been another recent hiccup. One of Jolie’s high-priced lawyers has severed professional ties with her.
An LA-based ex-federal prosecutor Priya Sopori will no longer be a part of the Salt actress’s legal team. Sopori had been closely working with Samantha DeJean, the actress’s lead lawyer.
The Maleficent actress is fighting her estranged husband, Brad Pitt, who wants 50/50 custody of their kids. It is not clear whether the lawyer left voluntarily or she was shown the door.
Hollywood Life obtained copies of legal documents concerning the legal team of the actress. Although the actual reason for the lawyer’s departure is yet to be known, it can create a new twist in the couple’s divorce lawsuit.
However, one thing is clear at this juncture. Jolie is determined to get full custody of her kids, come what may. It is evident from the recent alteration in Mr. & Mrs. Smith actress’s high-profile legal team.
An insider told Daily Mail that Jolie had fought a bitter courtroom battle in her divorce case till now. It is unlikely she would back down as far as her children are concerned.
The same source mentioned that the actress is paying a hefty fee to her lawyers. In case she feels any of her legal team members have to part ways, she would not mind at all.
It is not as if the 45-year-old actress has severed ties with an advocate she had recruited during her long-run trial in the court, which is now going on for four years. Just a couple of years ago, Angelina Jolie parted ways from renowned divorce lawyer Laura Wasser who is based in Los Angeles.
Wasser is known for her conciliatory approach towards divorcing couples and has represented celebrities, including Ashton Kutcher, Kim Kardashian, Johnny Depp, and more.
The lawyer quit her team when the actress’s courtroom battle had, allegedly, become excessively “venomous and nasty.” Many thought that Angie’s tough attitude did not match with Wasser’s approach.
Meanwhile, the Troy actor has included Michael Ofstedahl, his former wife’s PA, and her former co-star Jillian Armenante in his list of witnesses. It is obvious that even Brad Pitt is adamant about winning the joint custody.
In other news, David Oyelowo and Angelina Jolie’s interracial film Come Away has been attacked by an organized dislike group. The brigade left false reviews on a page of IMDb to discourage viewers from going to the halls and watch it. IMDb has, however, erased this fake rating from its page, according to another report by Daily Mail.
