Felicity Huffman served a complete sentence for her college bride scandal. After she spent 11 days in prison back in 2019, the 57-year-old actress asked for her passport back from the court. The actress recently requested the court to return her passport held by the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Department.
Her lawyers stated that the actress would soon complete her sentence and supervised release in the court filing. Reportedly, the federal prosecutors have already accepted the passport request as of Oct. 25. The actress completed her sentence.
The court had sentenced the actress not only to jail but also participating in community service. The When They See Us star pleaded guilty a couple of months back for bribing the college consultant $15,000 to ensure that her daughter gets admission.
Although Huffman was supposed to spend 14 days in jail as per the sentence, she was released after 11 days last October. The actress spent 250 hours of her sentenced community service while she was released under supervision for one year.
Huffman was not the only parent who caught up during the Varsity Blues operation. Other wealthy parents who came under the radar were Lori Loughlin after the U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts and FBI initiated their investigation last year.
As per the court documents, the actress agreed that she would pay the Worldwide Foundation of William Rick Singer, who used to hire people to attend the examinations on behalf of the actual students. Apparently, he did these through false medical forms stating that these students require additional time to give ACT/SAT tests individually.
However, the actress' husband, William H. Macy, was not investigated. The actress received her sentence in September and her daughter, for whom she paid the bribe, Sophia, said that she doesn't know who she is anymore with immense sadness.
However, Huffman replied that she could only apologize at this moment and said that she was wrong, stupid, and frightened. Indira Talwani, the judge on the case, announced the sentence and later, Huffman said that she accepted the court's decision and she doesn't need any reservation.
She admitted breaking the law and pleaded guilty. The actress acknowledged that there is no justification for what she did; neither she wants to make any excuse. The Desperate Housewives star celebrated Carnegie Mellon University accepting her daughter into their theater program.
