Prince Harry and Prince William’s ongoing feud is seemingly due to a misunderstanding between the royal siblings.
According to royal author Andrew Morton, Prince Harry misunderstood Prince William’s comment when the latter encouraged the former to take as much time as he likes before marrying Meghan Markle.
Morton said that this is a new protocol inside the royal family that allows a prince to test the waters first before sealing the deal with their partners. Doing so could help avoid the problems that senior royals may have experienced during their time.
This is also the very reason why Prince William didn’t immediately tie the knot with Kate Middleton. In fact, the couple dated for a decade first before Prince William proposed to his wife. And they also had two breakups before they finally got married in 2011.
Morton said that even before Prince William could explain what he meant; Prince Harry already became upset with his brother’s comments. But the Duke of Cambridge really meant well. He simply wants the Duke of Sussex to have a tested marriage first.
Having a tested marriage means that the royal couple would live together first before they would tie the knot. This way, they would have an idea if things between them would work out.
Prince William and Middleton, reportedly, lived together for a brief period of time with Queen Elizabeth’s permission and before they wed. So, Prince William thought that Prince Harry would also consider having a tested marriage with Markle first before proposing to her.
It is also important to note that Prince William and Middleton also lived in the same apartment while they were still in college. As such, they already had some idea as to how their lives would be like when they finally tie the knot.
And until today, Prince William and Middleton are able to make their marriage work.
Meanwhile, royal author Robert Lacey also detailed Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud by saying that their issues date back to when they were still teenagers. And their relationship just became much worse after Prince Harry and Markle started dating.
And according to Lacey, Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud could be dangerous to the Crown if they don’t resolve it immediately. After all, it could have a ripple effect on the British monarchy.
