Michael B. Jordan seemed to be all set to join a new batch of Black superheroes once again. The 33-year-old actor is known for his role in Black Panther as he worked alongside late actor Chadwick Boseman. Recently, the actor revealed that he would be helping in creating a completely new universe for DC.
Jordan confirmed that as he took a producer's role in the upcoming movie, Static Shock under DC Entertainment. Filmmaker Reginald Hudlin first announced the movie in August during the DC FanDome.
The 58-year-old director revealed that Jordan would take care of the production through his banner, Outlier Society. In a recent interview with ET, the Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox star opened up about creating an entire universe that will showcase mostly black superheroes.
The actor further acknowledged that the black community deserves a universe centered around only black people. Jordan said that his production house is committed in order to bring the comic books to life that consists of diverse content on various platforms. Moreover, the actor explained that he and his production banner is excited to work with Warner Bros and Hudlin.
"Outlier Society is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms, and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros on this initial step," he explained. Milestone Comics first introduced Static for the first time in 1993.
It was a company started by the Black group of writers and actors, who aimed towards creating comics that are more inclined towards people of color. However, the comic was further distributed by the DC comics.
The actor explained that his involvement in the upcoming franchise is going to provide him an opportunity to ensure that the first installment of Static Shock film turns out to be a hit. A couple of weeks ago, Static Shock fans celebrated the comic's two-decade anniversary, which made its debut on Kids WB.
Late writer Dwayne McDuffie's social media page was used to share the opening while fans started to pour in their love with tributes. When the show first aired on Kids WB, the show broke all the records, and it also provided representation that was much-needed during the peak of DC Animated Universe. It's been over 20 years that fans have been waiting for a live-action movie of Static, and it seems to be happening soon.
