Prince William has confessed to being devastated and finding it hard to keep optimism for his children's future after Prince George’s recent heartbreak watching a documentary about the environment.
The young royal who has been introduced to his idol Sir David Attenborough late last week stole the spotlight in the Kensington Royal engagement.
Father of Prince George, Prince William, recently shared with The Mirror that he is filled with great sadness for Prince George and the future generation.
He confessed that he and George often watch documentary movies together, and one of the last ones they saw was about extinction.
William mentioned that Prince George was so greatly affected by the documentary that he begged him to turn it off. He, too, was affected as well.
"So, having watched so many David Attenborough documentaries recently with my children, they absolutely love them, the most recent one – the extinction one – actually George and I had to turn it off,” Prince William said during the interview.
Young Prince George was said to have uttered that he did not want to watch the documentary anymore, experiencing a wave of great sadness while watching the film.
The father of three also shared his thoughts on keeping up his optimism. He rallied that it was ‘hugely difficult’ to keep his optimism high, saying that his children becoming more aware of what’s happening in the environment fills him with dread.
He explained that Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte would soon realize that their generation is at an impasse with the environment, and he feels that he has markedly let them down.
Prince George’s level of awareness with the environment has greatly pressured Prince William to do more for the planet.
The future King of England said that as a parent, he wants to do the best for his children, and his recent project ‘Earthshot’ will give the opportunity needed by many firms to find a solution within a decade.
Prince William acknowledges that his children’s reaction to the documentaries they often watched together has made him ask himself if what he is doing is enough.
Despite the actions taken by his royal highness in raising awareness for the environment and partnering recently with Sir David Attenborough, he still has some sense that we are losing to climate change.
Kate Middleton and Prince William made sure that the three Cambridge children are exposed to the dreaded issue of climate change.
