The royal family’s history has been a bloody one, from wars and betrayals, the throne of the British monarchy has been amongst the most fought over status in Europe.
But is there any difference between the history of the throne now and that before?
There have been rumors within the royal family that the heir apparent, Prince Charles, has had several doubts of his ex-wife, the late Princess Diana, and younger brother Prince Andrew.
A royal historian and expert have claimed that Prince Charles was paranoid about Princess Diana seemingly plotting his downfall, and brother Prince Andrew wanting to take over the throne.
Tom Bower published a book back in 2018 called ‘Rebel Prince: The Power, Passion, and Defiance of Prince Charles.’ In the book, Bower recounts when Prince Charles alleged that Princess Diana and Prince Andrew were after him.
According to Prince Charles, Princess Diana did not want him to be the King of England. She believed that the Prince of Wales was not up for the job.
He believed that Princess Diana wanted him out and wanted their firstborn, Prince William, to be King. The Prince of Wales also, allegedly, assumed that Diana and Andrew were in cahoots with each other, and also though the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson was in on the plan too.
Charles confided to one of his trusted royal aide Mark Bolland on how Prince Andrew has been feeding lies to their mother, Queen Elizabeth, about Camilla Parker-Bowles, his lover.
Camilla Parker-Bowles has been long a persona that the royal family was heavily against. Prince Charles was discouraged from marrying Camilla after several of the royal members intervened with the Prince’s decision.
Bower points out that Charles was so paranoid that he even thought Princess Diana plotted together with Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson to kick him out of the royal firm.
When Prince William becomes the King and not Prince Charles, this will allow Andrew to take over the throne until William becomes legal.
This led to Prince Charles becoming weary of the three and the decline of his trust with his royal brother.
The Palace and the Princes never addressed these allegations made by Tom Bower in his books, but Diana’s claim that she does not think Prince Charles is fit to be King is true.
In her bombshell interview with The Panorama in 1995, she confessed about Prince Charles's inability to cope with the responsibility.
A year later, Princess Diana died in a freak car accident.
