Princess Anne and Camilla Parker Bowles were recently pitted against each other.
According to Woman’s Day, the in-laws are fighting over the crown. And Princess Anne told Camilla that the throne is hers.
Royal fans who are aware of the backstory involving Princess Anne and Camilla know that the two female royals fell in love with the same man. And since Andrew Parker Bowles chose Camilla over Princess Anne, there was an assumption that Princess Royal hated her for it.
But regardless if this story is true or not, it’s been decades since Princess Anne and Camilla fell in love with Andrew. In fact, Princess Anne has already been married twice. And Camilla has already divorced Andrew since she’s now with Prince Charles.
As such, it’s not hard to conclude that that tabloid’s claims are untrue. And this is just another way for them to pit the two female royals against each other.
Gossip Cop also debunked the tabloid’s claims by saying that the story features sexist stereotypes.
“The tabloid reduces Princess Anne down to the stereotype of the jealous ex-girlfriend who only exists to get revenge on the other woman. She’s an Olympian and has married twice since dating Andrew Parker Bowles. Plus, Bowles only married Camilla years after dating the Duchess of Windsor. Why would Princess Anne perform a coup now of all times? If she ever had ill feelings, it’s safe to say she’s completely moved on,” they said.
The rumor-debunking site also pointed out that the tabloid’s story about Princess Anne and Camilla isn’t new. Woman’s Day also previously claimed that Princess Anne was trying to take the crown from Prince Charles.
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s daughter, allegedly, felt that she could rule the crown better than her older brother. But Gossip Cop insisted that there’s no evidence that a coup will take place.
It is also important to note that Prince Charles would be next in line to the queen no matter what the tabloids say. The Order of Succession clearly states that the queen’s eldest child would succeed her. And since Prince Charles is her eldest child, he would become king after the queen dies or abdicates.
Prince Charles’ successor is Prince William. And the only way for Prince William to become king is if Prince Charles dies or abdicates.
