Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a statement announcing their decision to stop working with four British publications.
The royal couple said that they will no longer offer themselves up as a currency for an economy of clickbait and distortion to The Sun, the Daily Express, the Daily Mail and the Daily Mirror.
“There will be no corroboration and zero engagement. This policy is not about avoiding criticism. It’s not about shutting down the public conversation or censoring accurate reporting,” the royal couple said.
Prince Harry and Markle also said that they support a free and open press. However, they are forced to draw the line at fake reporting and other falsehoods, which could be based on lies.
In October 2019, Prince Harry and Markle sued the Mail on Sunday for publishing the private letters the Duchess of Sussex sent to her estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr.
Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s critics were not impressed with their decision to ban four British tabloids from working with them.
One of their top critics, Piers Morgan, attacked the royal couple via his Twitter account. The “Good Morning Britain” host said that the country is so well rid of the ghastly Sussexes.
During Tuesday’s episode of “Good Morning Britain,” Morgan also refused to talk about Prince Harry and Markle. He told his co-host that he is banning the royal couple from appearing on the show.
Morgan also said that it was best to talk about Queen Elizabeth, who celebrated her 94th birthday on Tuesday.
“Yeah let's not bother with the others, let's just focus on the fact it's the Queen's birthday. Let's just forget about the ones in Hollywood whining about their own miserable poor lives in their mansion,” he said.
Co-host Susanna Reid urged Morgan to stop talking about the Sussexes since he himself said that he wants to forget about them.
However, Morgan didn’t stop. He said that he’s simply saying that he will no longer talk about the royal couple. Reid replied by telling Morgan that he still keeps digging at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Morgan has been criticizing Prince Harry and Markle even before they quit the royal family. According to the host, he and Markle used to be friends but the “Suits” alum ghosted him after she started dating Prince Harry.
As of late, Prince Harry and Markle have not yet responded to Morgan.
