The Kardashian-Jenner clan that propelled to skyrocketing popularity because of their appearances on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, decided to pull the plug over the show after fourteen years. Taking to her Instagram account, Kim Kardashian announced that the show will end in 2021.
The reality star admitted that announcing the show ending back in Sept. was an extremely emotional decision. As expected, fans of the hit reality series were shocked. In the same post, Kim shared her thoughts on the decision and expressed her gratitude towards the show for launching her career.
With heavy hearts, she wrote, the Kardashian-Jenner family has made the difficult decision to bid goodbye to KUWTK. She went on to recall that it has been 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes, and several spin-off shows saying she was beyond grateful to her viewers who watched them for all these years and were a part of their good times, bad times, during happiness, and sadness, and the multiple relationships and kids.
In addition to appreciating the fans of the reality series, the family thanked the individuals and businesses that have been a part of their experience. She mentioned a special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in them, E! for being their partner, and their production team at Bunim/Murray, noting that they have spent several hours just documenting their lives.
The family's decision to pull the plug over a show that helped them garner the fame, and expand businesses seem driven by the need to take a break and have some privacy after so many years of cameras tracking their every move. Even so, it wasn't an easy decision to make.
After announcing the news, Kim admitted that she spent the whole weekend crying. “Oh, it was honestly the most emotional day,” the KKW Beauty founder said in an interview with Grazia magazine. Noting that she cried the whole weekend, Kim said it was such a heartbreaking moment that she could get emotional on the phone during the interview.
While Kim was clearly upset about the show ending, Kris Jenner says it was Khloe Kardashian who took the news the hardest. During an appearance for an interview On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Jenner opened up about how the new affected Khloe.
Noting that they all were crying after telling the crew about the show ending, Jenner said Khloe didn't stop crying since they made the announcement. The momager went on to say that Khloe has been sweet and extremely emotional about their decision to end the show.
Although it has been a hard decision and announcing the show ending was very emotional, Jenner said there is a lot more life yet to live and they will have the best time doing what they do.
