Harvey Weinstein has been charged once again with three new cases. The 68-year-old film producer has earlier faced more than ten sexual assault charges by five different women. He is currently serving his time in prison in Los Angeles.
The district attorney's office revealed that Weinstein has been accused of three new cases by two women, who alleged that he forced them into oral copulation. As per the claims, Weinstein forced himself on one of the women at Beverly Hills hotel between the period of 2004 to 2005.
Another woman was forced between 2009 to 2010 in the same hotel. Juda Engelmaye, who is a spokesman for Weinstein responded to the latest charges filed against the former film mogul.
"Harvey Weinstein has always maintained that every one of his physical encounters throughout his entire life have been consensual. That hasn't changed," he explained. However, he refused to comment on further charges claimed because they haven't learned about it yet.
While the producer will spend 23 years of his life in prison following the sentence that confirmed he sexually assaulted and raped two women. Although prosecutors already started the process in order to extradite Weinstein to Los Angeles.
However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the prosecutors agreed to delayed extradition of him from Los Angeles to California. Earlier this year, the producer was tested positive for COVID-19 while he was in the prison with maximum-security.
The extradition hearing has been pushed forward till Dec. 11 because of the pandemic. The producer was initially charged for sexual assault in January while he was still in California. Although he moved to New York as his trial began. Gradually, the number of accusations kept adding in future months.
At the moment, the Weinstein has been charged with two sexual batteries by restraint, four rape count, four oral copulation done forcibly, and one more forced attempt. There is a total of five women who got victimized by the producer between 2004 to 2013 in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles.
If all the charges are combined, then the producer might face prison time of 140 years. A task force was formed by Jackie Lacey, who is a District Attorney in order to investigate the allegations against the producer.
The charges were followed by the investigation that went on in the entertainment industry as the #MeToo movement was at its peak in 2017. While the task force did little work in two years, there were more than twenty allegations that accused big names in the entertainment industry. However, most of those women decline to file cases against them officially.
