Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children are the future of the British royal family. As a direct line to the British throne, they are being watched carefully and trained traditionally to the family’s ways of living.
With three kids now, the Cambridge family has been rowdy and not boring at all. Living in the huge 26 room Kensington Palace, it is only proper that they want a big family.
According to reports, their youngest, Prince Louis has had some difficult naming debate between royal members, and due to a mandate from the Queen, the 2-year-old tot was able to get a title.
Reports have revealed that His Royal Highness, Prince Louis Arthur Charles was supposed to have no title whatsoever, and even his name was something the Queen did not agree on.
It took almost four days for Prince William and Kate Middleton to decide on a name, before being announced by Kensington Royal.
Queen Elizabeth was said to have felt an unease with the Louis name, pointing out that this was a name heavily used by the French Monarchy back then.
But according to historians, the name Louis is mostly a nod to Lord Louis Mountbatten. The Lord who is Prince Philip’s uncle was a mentor to Prince Charles and was often the one who guided the Prince with his decision-making.
As for Prince Louis' title, as a law, the 5th-in-line to the throne royal should not have gotten a title, instead, he should have been called Master Louis of Cambridge or Master Louis of Windsor.
But due to his great-grandmother’s meddling, Louis got to be Prince.
In 1917, King George V imposed a new rule wherein all of the sovereign’s children would automatically inherit the title of Prince and Princess, as well as any grandchildren born through the male line.
In the guidelines, there was none talked about grandchildren. Queen Elizabeth had to overwrite this rule and gave titles to Prince Louis and his sibling, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
It has also been reported that Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was supposed to have an ‘HRH’ title, and supposedly should have been called Prince.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revoked this title and instead chose to not give Archie Harrison the title to give him more freedom in the future.
Prince Louis is the 5th-in-line to the throne, while little Archie is the 7th-in-line. Their ranks will go up by a number once their grandfather, Prince Charles accedes the throne.
