Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a video today revealing their thoughts and opinions on Black History Month, which will be starting on Oct. 1 till the end of the month.

The couple kicked off the celebrations for Black History Month with an interview with the Evening Standard exposing their thoughts on the current situation the people of color, most importantly the black community is facing today.

Prince Harry most especially had several thoughts on Black History Month, wherein he revealed his own incompetency to empathize with the black community.

According to Prince Harry in the interview he mentioned the world was made for ‘white people’, he gave an example of subtle racism he has noticed.

He continued by explaining that when one enters a store and sees a line of dolls, with only white dolls available it is not noticeable until you realize that there are no black dolls, a great misrepresentation of the varied communities and races in the world.

The Duke of Sussex also stated that he was not well educated on the matter of the struggles of people of color, which he thought he was but upon marrying his wife, Meghan Markle, who is biracial, his eyes have been open.

Prince Harry also made sure that people should not blame themselves or point fingers and blaming other people but instead, Black History Month is all about learning.

Meghan Markle also chimed in with her two cents. She mentioned the ongoing protest in America with the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Duchess of Sussex mentioned that the movement has been ‘inflammatory’ for many people, she continued by saying that if there is a peaceful protest with the intention recognition of equality then it is a beautiful thing.

The current situation in America has been an uncomfortable topic for a majority of the population in the United States but Meghan Markle acknowledges this and explained that great changes happen in history after great reckoning.

The couple also introduced new generation trailblazers for the Black History Month. This includes British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, Olympic boxing champion Nicola Adams, and Booker prize-winning author Bernardine Evaristo.

Harry and Meghan have been very active with the political movements in the US nowadays. They have been greatly commenting on the November elections, which has gathered some criticisms.

They have goals of using their platform to reach out to a worldwide audience and bring attention to topics close to their hearts.
