Drew Barrymore recently revealed that she has kept an iconic childhood movie prop, which is currently sitting in her daughter's room. The actress says it is a good idea for parents to keep something that belongs to them in their kid's rooms as it transfers memories and energy.
The new television talk show host opened up about being a mother to her two daughters, Frankie, 6, and Olive, 8. The Charlie's Angels actress also spilled the beans on a valuable object that she took from the set, which is now placed near where her girls lay their heads.
"I am absolutely terrible at keeping things," Barrymore told Domino Kids. In the magazine's first-ever issue, the 45-year-old actress confessed that she keeps losing everything, but still has the red cowboy hat that she sported in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
She went on to reveal that she has kept the momento, that reminds her that she was 6-years-old wearing it, somewhere in her daughters' room. Barrymore says she is glad she didn't lose the hat, like most of the other things.
During the interview, Barrymore spoke about how as kids people tend to throw stuff away without realizing that something will be important to them one day. She went on to suggest that it is a good idea for parents to put something that belongs to them in their kids' rooms as it serves as a transference of memories and energy, PEOPLE reported.
While Barrymore doesn't show the faces of her daughters on social media platforms, she hasn't kept her approach to motherhood under wraps and told the magazine that she did a parenting series on Instagram in a bid to honor and acknowledge what was happening during the Black Lives Matter movement and amid the coronavirus pandemic. She said it isn't the right time to promote products or discuss anything except the conversation at hand.
She made a myriad of protest signs along with her daughters and brought several new books to read including a book entitled Raise Your Voice: 12 Protests That Shaped America, about how protesting serves as a catalyst for change. The Wedding Singer actress also said that 2020 is a powerful number considering that it represents hindsight.
Looking back at history, Barrymore said people need to grow and evolve to change, adding that the world is having a rebirth. Barrymore doesn't shy away from having big conversations with her daughters, including the meaning of life, or expressing how they have changed her.
