There have been rumors circulating that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has plans to run for office in the near future. People have pointed out that Meghan Markle’s choice of not giving up her US citizenship is a big green flag for the Duchess to run for a political office.
Meghan Markle has been taking on several talking engagements for movements with political topics.
The Duchess has been known to have very strong political views, of which were squatted when she entered the royal institution.
Royal commentators have deducted that Meghan Markle has no qualms with her title as Duchess of Sussex being stripped off from her, as this title will only prevent her in running for office.
The rumors have been up in the air after Meghan Markle spoke for Michelle Obama’s movements, ‘When All Women Vote’. The success of the appearance of Meghan during the virtual engagement saw 300,000 women registering to vote in the days after.
But a representative from the Duchess of Sussex’s office has debunked all the rumors, saying that the Duchess has no plans of running for any office.
Meghan Markle has already vied against Ivanka Trump, who is said to be the Republican nominee for 2024.
Only adding fuel to the firs is Meghan's appearance with feminist and political activist, Gloria Steinem on an interview.
Meghan was said to have made a comment regarding the Democratic Vice-presidential nominee, Kamala Harris.
The Duchess commented that she is very excited for Kamal running for the office of Vice-president, saying that it is good to see a representation of POC women in office.
“For me, being biracial, growing up, whether it was a doll or a person in office, you need to see someone who looks like you in some capacity,” Meghan Markle said during the interview.
The Duchess of Sussex has also come under fire after she and husband, Prince Harry made remarks on the upcoming November elections.
A survey done by Tatler in the UK has shown that their disapproval rating has gone down tremendously and that one-third of Britons believe that the Duke and Duchess need to be stripped off of their titles.
The palace has not made any statements regarding the couple’s first TV appearance in America, but royal aides have revealed that their comments violated their accordance with the Queen, Prince Charles and the Duke of Cambridge.
