Jackie Stallone, the mother to Sylvester Stallone, has died at the age of 98. On Monday, the Rambo star's younger brother, Frank Stallone confirmed the news on Facebook. This morning my brothers and I lost our mother," he wrote in the post.
Jackie was mother to four children including Sylvester, Tommy, Frankie, and their late sister Toni Ann. Jackie went on to describe their mother as a remarkable woman who worked out every day, teeming with spunk and was fearless. He revealed that his mother, who he called a "true revolutionary gal," died in her sleep, with the cause of death still unknown.
Frank described her as a person who was hard to be disliked, and she was flamboyant and eccentric. Born Jacqueline Frances Labofish on Nov. 29, 1921, in Washington D.C., she survived the prohibition, the great depression, and even WWII (World War 2). Frank said he would spend hours talking to his mother about the '20s, 30's and '40s.
He compared having a conversation with his mother to a history lesson, adding that her mind was sharp as a razor till the day she died. Moreover, she refused to wear a mask, "a true revolutionary gal," he wrote.
Frank said his brother Sylvester took care of her like a Queen for all her life. He said he will never be able to call his mother again or get her to yell at him for never tying the wedding knot, but he said they all loved her and will miss her spirit to survive and prevail. " I'll miss you always mommy," he concluded the message.
Jackie was also a reality star, making an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother UK. She is survived by three great-grandchildren and seven grandchildren.
The larger than life character was a wrestling promoter as well. At the age of 15, she ran away from her home to join the circus. In an interview with The Times in 2005, she revealed that her father, who was a wealthy lawyer, wanted her to go to law school. She worked as a trapeze artist for two years and took a job as a chorus girl on Broadway, BBC reported.
She married her first husband, hairdresser, and occasional actor Frank Stallone Sr. in 1945. They stayed together for 12 years and had two children including Sylvester and Frank. She then married Anthony Filiti. Her granddaughter Toni D'Alto succumbed to lung cancer in 2012. She was 48.
