Kelly Clarkson has shocked everyone including her own inner circle, who always assumed that everything is smooth between Clarkson and her husband, Brandon Blackstock. While the 38-year-old singer wants to keep her divorce details private, she noted that it has been a tough time.
Since the last season of her talk show named The Kelly Clarkson Show has gone off-air, there have been many things happening in her personal life. The Behind These Hazel Eyes singer revealed her difficult moments during the premiere episode of her second season on Sept. 21.
Clarkson addressed the virtual audience and admitted that 2020 has changed her personal life in a big way and it was something surprising for her as well. The singer holds the title of American Idol's first-ever winner and has been outspoken always.
The singer filed for a divorce with Blackstock after completing over seven years of their marriage. The couple shares two kids together, River Rose Blackstock who is the 6-year-old daughter, and Remington Alexander Blackstock who his the 4-year-old son.
"What I'm dealing with is hard because it involves more than just my heart," she said. The singer noted that the couple has four children in total as Blackstock had two children from his earlier marriage.
The singer further said that divorce never turned out to be easy for individuals or families attached to the couple. Clarkson said that she knows how the importance of ensuring the "little hearts" to remain protected as they both come from families that have dealt with divorce.
While Clarkson mentioned she has been open about her private lifestyle with her fans, but this is something she did like to keep private as she considers herself like a mama bear that ensures her kids are always protected.
The singer explained that since the news broke about her divorce, everyone kept asking her if she is fine after filing the divorce. However, Clarkson further stated that she has been coping with the situation with the help of writing songs.
She revealed since she was a little girl, she has been using her writing skills in order to get rid of stress. She disclosed it was her mother who encouraged her to write and that will help to get her stress out. Furthermore, she didn't want to speak in detail about the deets of their divorce for the sake of their families, especially kids.
