According to TIME, Queen Elizabeth’s eldest grandson and his wife shared the news of their impending separation to The Queen and other family members last year. They indicated that it was their intention to still reside in Gloucestershire where they are living at present.
Although Princess Anne did not comment on her son’s divorce news publicly, her recent interview has thrown light on how she had responded after the news of her son’s split became public.
Katie Nicholl, a royal correspondent was accompanying Princess Royal while she was visiting the Camden Carers Centre and on the same day, Phillips and his wife announced the news of their divorce. Nicholl mentioned that the princess looked “relaxed and in good spirits” even after the news was made public.
Nicholl said that she was forewarned that Anne would be noncommittal about her son’s separation news. However, they did chat about it a little while traveling. The reporter feels the Princess “just rises above it.”
The ability of the monarch’s daughter to behave in a dignified manner even amid family drama demonstrates how well-versed she is in royal ways. On the other hand, one royal source mentioned that Princess Anne felt “very raw” after she got the news of her only son’s separation, Express reports.
