Vivica A. Fox and Giuliana Rancic shocked viewers when they revealed the reason behind the absence from E!’s virtual “Live from the Red Carpet” show for the 2020 Emmys. The Special correspondent and the Longtime E! host said they tested positive for COVID-19.

The show kicked off with two evident absences to the 2020 Emmys pre-show, leaving Brad Goreski and Nina Parker no choice but to take over hosting duties. Goreski and Parker even informed the audience that the regularly scheduled hosts would not be able to interview celebrities and stars as they have contracted the coronavirus.

Stepping into her 20th year on the E! red carpet, Rancic told her fans that she doesn't take missing an award casually, noting this year is different, E! News reported. Citing E! and NBCUniversal's strict testing guidelines, particularly ahead of an event like the 2020 Emmys pre-show, Rancic revealed that she found out that she tested positive for COVID-19.

Although she hoped she never hears that, Rancic said she is thankful she found out before traveling and possibly exposing other people to the deadly virus. "So for that, I'm thankful," she wrote.

She went on to reveal that she is doing well in terms of her health, but her husband Bill and son Duke also tested positive. As a family, she said they are doing well and taking care of each other and will soon get back to normal. Rancic wished everyone all the best and urged them to protect themselves and those around them, encouraging them to take good care. "I'll see you on the next red carpet," she added.

Goreski read the written statement from Fox about the bad news. She said she too has tested positive and is isolating at home out of "an abundance of caution," TheWrap reported. She explained that it is imperative to follow the safety health rules and guidelines to protect ourselves and others during these unprecedented times.

Aside from the Live from the Red Carpet, there is a slew of other shows that have been directly impacted by the pandemic. Keeping in line with that, the 72nd Emmy Awards is being hosted by Jimmy Kimmel himself from a stage at the Staples Center in L.A.

All nominees and stars are foregoing the typical Emmy Awards spectacle for a virtual broadcast from their homes. The move was made citing caution in the wake of the still raging pandemic.
