The infamous ‘Megxit’ has been the subject of many speculations since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s announcement to step away from their senior royal duties. Although the entire ‘Megxit’ has come to conclusion, there are still numerous loopholes on the decision.
Harry and Meghan became heavily embroidered in a lawsuit war with the United Kingdom media, the two who cited that there were problems with the media stepping over the line with there headlines, the blatant unsupportiveness of the royal institution drove the couple to decide to leave their royal duties.
A timeline of how it happened, started early in November 2019, when it was exposed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not joining the royal household for the Christmas holidays.
Instead, the couple opted to fly out to Vancouver Island in Canada and spend over six weeks of their Christmas holidays there. During this time, talks of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex planning to separate themselves from the royal family were already circulating.
It was not until January 2020, when Harry and Meghan publicly announced their plans to stepped down as senior royals. The promptness of the announcement blasted the royal family, most especially the Queen to convene with the other senior royals.
The Sandringham Summit thus was created, a convention between the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry. In the Sandringham Summit, negotiations of Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave the royal family was the main point of discussion.
It was settled that Harry and Meghan were to be considered as non-working royals, stripping them off of their ‘HRH’ title and stripping Harry completely from his honorary military titles. But one clause in the Sandringham Summit is said to be a timeline for Harry and Meghan’s commercial venture once they step away from their royal responsibilities.
Despite the two finding success now and thriving in California, where Harry and Meghan decided to lay camp, the two could still be recalled to go back to their post as working senior royals.
The Queen, according to the clause, will give Harry and Meghan a year to live a life as private citizens but after a year their work and life will be under investigation by the royal officials and the Queen, before deciding to entirely give the Sussex’s their freedom.
The one-year time cap will end on March 2021, wherein the second Sandringham Summit will once again assemble.
