Fans of Keeping Up With the Kardashians were taken aback by shock earlier in Sept. when Kim Kardashian announced the hit reality show will come to an end in 2021, after nearly 15 years on the air. The show catapult Kim Kardashian and her younger sister Kylie Jenner to family and helped the family become some of the most successful people in reality TV, launching several businesses and creating a media empire.

The news of the show coming to an end triggered conversations among loyal KUWTK fans, causing them to ponder how it all started. Aside from the rumor mill churning out all sorts of speculations surrounding the end of the show, some fans are looking over the possible reasons why the popular family opted to walk away from it all.

The Kardashians weren't popular when Keeping Up With the Kardashians premiered on the E! network back in 2007, although they lived in an upscale neighborhood in California. The show propelled to skyrocketing popularity in short order, with the help of Kim's controversial sex tape leak around the same time.

Ardent KUWTK fans have witnessed Kardashians grow up on cameras, and go on to having their own families while filming for the reality show that was responsible for their popularity. From identity issues to divorces, the Kardashians have experienced it all, and while there's no doubt they appreciate their massive fanbase, the show's format and structure have undergone radical overhauls over the years.

In a recent Reddit discussion thread, fans talked about why the highly influential Kardashian-Jenners finally decided to end the reality show. One fan responded that although it was shocking, the news wasn't surprising, adding that the family seemed really over it for quite some time now.

"I think their life is starting to get too real and they want some privacy," another fan chimed in. Several posters believed that the family's internal changes were responsible for the show coming to an end. One fan suggested that they are probably tired of being filmed so much, noting that they have all matured and grown out of it.

Some posters said while the emotional news marks the ends of an era, many of the Kardashian-Jenners are likely to remain in the spotlight in some capacity at least for the next few years. A few other fans predicted that the show would return after several years when some of the Kardashian kids have grown older, adding that people love comebacks, and having the show return with older Kardashian kids seems like a solid plan.
