Keith Urban attended the recent 2020 Grammy Awards minus his wife, Nicole Kidman. Though the country singer offered a reason for the actress' absence, some tabloid refused to believe him and, instead, accused Urban of lying.
Kidman and Urban have been known for always attending Hollywood events together. Hence, when either one of them is absent, the press would ask.
At the Grammys last month, Urban was asked why the Bombshell actress did not accompany him at the red carpet. The Graffiti U singer told People that Nicole was down with flu and spending the night with their kids at home.
Urban even said that, as soon as the award show is done, he is heading home to attend to his sick wife. That's what Urban exactly did after he presented the Best Pop Solo Performance award to Lizzo that night.
Despite the gleaming fact, Woman's Day accused that Urban lied to the reporters at the red carpet about the reason why Kidman didn't show up at the Grammys. It cited a source as saying Urban explained to his friend Blake Shelton that he and Kidman had a huge fight over the singer's over-commitment to his music career. It also cited some witnesses who allegedly described the "Blue Ain't Your Color" singer looking "sad," "distracted," and "distressed" while talking to Shelton backstage.
"Nicole ended up storming out of the house, with the girls in tow," the source claimed.
Gossip Cop checked in with Urban's rep, who confirmed that Woman's Day story was totally fabricated. The rep confirmed that Kidman wasn't there because she was ill to attend the Grammys.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have been the center of divorce rumors since they married more than 10 years ago. Most of the time, the rumors were on supposed jealousy on each other's co-workers. Earlier this year, Woman's Day claimed Kidman had warned Jennifer Lopez to stay away from Urban. Both Urban and Lopez served as judges of American Idol.
Back in October, there were rumors linking Kidman to her Big Little Lies co-star Alexander Skarsgård. Urban was, reportedly, furious and felt threatened after learning that his wife is reuniting with Skarsgård in a new movie, The Northman. All of these rumors have been debunked as well.
Urban had also said in the past interview that they got used to rumors and just laugh it off. The singer, however, also admitted that these rumors had been tough on their children more than to them. The Ranch frontman said it was hard explaining to their daughters, Sunday, 10, and Faith, 7, why there were speculations such as these about their parents.
