Taking a break from his presidential campaign, Kanye West took to Twitter and shared a string of tweets, wherein the rapper announced he won't be putting more music until his contract with Sony and Universal was finished. The rapper has a reputation for sharing controversial tweets, including a tweet that divulged some very details about his marriage with Kim Kardashian.
In his tweet, West said he is unwilling to release new music until his record company, Universal Music Group, and publisher, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, release him from their deals. This was followed by a series of other tweets, that demanded Drake and J. Cole to apologize to him, without clarifying if this was a further condition for releasing new music, and another tweet, asking for a meeting with Jay-Z.
“I’m not putting no more music out till I’m done with my contract with Sony and Universal,” the rapper tweeted. He challenged them to come and get him in a statement that was accompanied by an emoji of a skier. Noting that he is in Calabassas, he urged the Vivendi family to come and talk to him.
Following that, he went after some of his colleagues in the music world, first off, demanding a public apology from J Cole and Drake. Calling himself Nat Turner, West said he was fighting for them. He went on to call himself the new Moses.
In another tweet, that he later deleted, West touted himself as America's second richest black man, adding that he needs all his people to support him so that he can get them all free. The previous tweetstorm called upon Jay-Z’s given name, with an apology for spelling it wrong, Variety reported.
West initially wrote, “I’m waiting to meet with Sean Carter also,” but quickly corrected it to Shawn, noting that he did not mean to disrespect his "big bro." Without divulging more details, West also invoked God and referred to his dispute with the music industry's other Black titans.
Noting that he isn't an industry, and nor does he care, West wrote that he is in service to Christ. He went on to suggest that the world needs healing, he misses his brothers and refuses to argue with black men over labels that they don't even own.
West said he has the utmost respect for fellow Black men, and urged them to respect each other. He also requested them to stop dissing each other on labels that they do not even own.
