Prince Harry reportedly snubbed Prince Philip shortly after he relocated to the United States with Meghan Markle.
Registry documents from the tourism company, Travalyst, revealed that the Duke of Sussex already dropped his surname, Mountbatten-Windsor. The surname is very important to Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth.
Years ago, the Duke of Edinburgh fought hard for all four of his children to have the Mountbatten surname. After the Queen gave birth to Prince Charles and Princess Anne, she decided to give them her surname, Windsor.
It was only after the birth of Prince Andrew and Prince Edward that the Queen agreed to include Mountbatten to the official full name of their kids.
After Prince Charles and Princess Diana welcomed their sons Prince William and Prince Harry, they decided to give them the Mountbatten-Windsor surname as well.
However, Prince Harry has decided to give up his title and surname since he is not a working member of the royal family anymore. At present, he is simply known as Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex or just Harry.
According to Express, since Prince Philip fought hard for his Mountbatten surname to be recognized, his grandson’s decision to give it up is seen as a deliberate snub.
However, Meghan Markle’s husband reportedly assured that his decision was nothing personal. According to Us Weekly, Prince Harry won’t give up his surname legally and he simply dropped it while registering his new tourism firm.
“The bottom line is, he prefers to keep it casual and be known as Harry,” a source said.
The insider also revealed that Prince Harry assured Queen Elizabeth that his decision wasn’t something personal.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry has reached out to the royal family especially now that he’s been living away from them. According to Entertainment Tonight, the Duke of Sussex misses everyone but he’s in touch with Prince Charles and the Queen.
Another insider told Us Weekly that Prince William and Prince Harry have started talking. But things are still awkward between the royal siblings now.
The Duke of Cambridge is reportedly upset that Prince Harry didn’t return to London to be with his loved one during the coronavirus pandemic. The source also said that just like all other households, Prince Harry’s relationship with his brother has been up and down.
At the end of the day, Prince Harry’s priority is still to protect his wife and son, Archie from all the drama surrounding the royal family.
