Over the weekend, Chris Evans found himself in the midst of a social media maelstrom after he accidentally sent out a picture of his private parts on his Instagram account. Now, his celebrity friends and family have assembled to offer him some solace.
People reports that Mark Ruffalo, Evans’ Avengers: Endgame co-star, has reached out to the 39-year-old on Twitter to console him and assure him that what happened to him isn’t that bad. Ruffalo offered up a comparison to Donald Trump.
In his tweet, the 52-year-old actor pointed out the “silver lining” that so long as Trump was president of the United States, there was nothing that Evans could do that would be just as embarrassing as anything Trump does in office.
ET Online also notes that even Evans’ own brother, Scott, has joined in on the lighthearted online teasing, posting a tweet alluding to the incident. In the tweet, the younger Evans joked that he was not on social media yesterday and asked his followers if he missed anything.
The outlet also pointed out that fans of the Avengers star were also quick to come to the actor’s defense, calling on social media to post photos of the actor that show him in a positive light rather than screenshots of the Instagram story showing his private parts.
One fan tweeted that Evans is an incredible person that deserves to be respected. Another called for people to be kind to Evans. Fans also posted pictures of Evans with his dog, Dodger, to ostensibly cleanse the timeline.
As recounted by the Independent, all of the social media chatter sprung from Evans’ Instagram story. The actor had initially meant to share a screenshot of his family playing the charades game Head’s Up but ended up including a screenshot of his phone gallery with an image that appeared to be his private part.
The screenshot also included a headshot of the actor with the words “Guard that p***y” imposed on it.
While Ruffalo and Evans’ brother Scott has addressed the leak, Evans himself has not spoken up about the matter until now.
The incident may have been embarrassing for him, but it at least has distracted from the global coronavirus pandemic, which is still very much an issue especially in the United States.
According to the Sept. 13 update from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are now 6.467.481 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States. Deaths caused by COVID-19 are now at 193,195 people.
