Prince William is, allegedly, worried that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would use Netflix as their platform to release a documentary on Princess Diana.
According to New Idea, the Duke of Cambridge has already given Prince Harry a warning about the documentary.
Before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit The Firm, Markle, allegedly, expressed her desire to produce a documentary on the mother-in-law that she never met.
“William always tried to deflect the idea. He and Harry have done a few interviews about her, and he feels that everything that should be made public has been put out there by her own sons. Meghan was quite offended by that notion – and now William fears she’ll go rogue and do it anyway, only this time she’ll have hundreds of millions of Netflix dollars at her disposal to do whatever she wants,” she source said.
The insider also said that Prince Harry and Markle’s debt from the Frogmore Cottage renovation is the only tie they had left with the royal family. Now that they’ve already paid this off, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, allegedly, think that they can do whatever they want.
“That Frogmore debt was her last formal tie to the family. She has an ax to grind, is certainly not William’s biggest fan, and Harry is powerless to stop her once she gets an idea in her head. Netflix doesn’t care if Harry and Meghan become multimillionaires from this deal – because it means their programs are making serious bucks. They’ve virtually offered them a blank cheque. Meghan’s given them a wish list of the sorts of shows and movies she’d like to make, and rumor has it, Diana’s name has come up more than once,” the source said.
Unfortunately for Prince William, the dad of three doesn’t, allegedly, have a lot of options in trying to prevent the Sussexes from releasing a Princess Diana documentary. But his legal team is encouraging him to focus on intellectual property.
Since he’s Princess Diana’s heir, he, allegedly, has rights over his late mother’s letters and tapes.
“Meghan and Harry both know all too well that Wills hasn't been Netflix's biggest fans since it dragged skeletons out of the closet in The Crown. He would have thought Harry had similar qualms – but if Meghan wants her name in lights, she obviously helped him get past that personal conflict,” the source said.
