The ongoing pandemic has led to many changes in the daily lives of people, such as going to the theaters and eating out. This global problem has also made it nearly impossible for production companies to release their movie, with strict lockdown rules and social distancing.
One of the biggest movies to have been revealed in the past year has been the adaptation of the DC comic heroine, ‘Wonder Woman’.
The first ‘Wonder Woman’ movie has been critically acclaimed and has been a huge blockbuster hit around the globe, it has garnered over $900 million worldwide.
It is also one of the most successful DC movies to have come out, with its counterparts, such as the Batman movies, Superman movies, and Aquaman not being as successful as ‘Wonder Woman’.
When the second ‘Wonder Woman’ film was announced last year in 2019, the hype for the heroin grew again.
The foretold worldwide release of the film was on December 2019 but was pushed to November 2019. But due to the ‘Joker’ movie being released on October 2019, the director of ‘Wonder Woman’, Patty Jenkins, decided to move the release date to January 2020.
The pandemic did not allow this to happen but was once again forecasted to be released midyear on June 2020.
But once again, the second ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ movie will be released in theaters this Christmas 2020.
Patty Jenkins said during an interview with Deadline that, “First and foremost let me say how much Gal [Gadot] and I love all our devoted Wonder Woman fans around the world, and your excitement for WW84 couldn’t make us happier or more eager for you to see the movie, because I know how important it is to bring this movie to you on a big screen when all of us can share the experience together, I’m hopeful you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer.”
The Oscar-award winning director was clear about her dismay for moving the movie’s release multiple times and that her clear disappointment, but she wishes that moviegoers would be patient enough to wait for its release this coming December.
‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is slated to be another blockbuster hit, multiple new characters will be seen in the movie and stars, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, returning to the roster is Chris Pine, joined by Kristen Wiig, Robin Wright, Pedro Pascal and Connie Nielsen.
Numerous of the movies that have been slated to be released this year have been move indefinitely to different dates in the coming months.
