Princess Anne, known by many as one of the most hardworking royals, had some strong words to say to younger royals who are forgetting the basics. According to Express UK, the princess wants the younger royals to follow their example, and stick to tradition when it comes to doing their royal duties.
This statement was given in a rare sit-down interview that Princess Royal gave in light of her 70th birthday this year. The interview was awarded to Vanity Fair, done at the St. James' Palace before the coronavirus pandemic swept through the UK and the rest of the world. But even when the pandemic was starting its havoc in the UK, the princess still carried on with her royal engagements up until the government banned people from gathering in groups and all the royals had to isolate themselves in their homes.
Many have admired the princess, not only for hard work as a royal but also for her nice attitude and her sharp wit. In the infamous kidnapping attempt against her, the famous words she uttered when told to get out of the car were "not bloody likely." Some say she even considered her would-kidnapper Ian Ball, who was hoping to get millions of dollars for ransom money.
She became popular with many last 2019 when it seemed that she snubbed POTUS Donald Trump at a reception in Buckingham. But it seems that she was not happy to be associated with such incidents as she wants to remain apolitical, which is expected from members of the monarchy.
She is not shy, however, to talk to younger royal family members. IN her interview, she says that the younger royals may be in too much of a hurry to make changes in the royal family's ways when it comes to philanthropy. Her advice is simple and that is not to forget the basics.
She did not cite any name when talking of the younger royals. But her advice is very timely given the fact that Prince Harry and wife, Meghan Markle have announced their decision to step down from being senior members of the royal family. The bulk of the responsibility for younger royals now falls on the shoulders of William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Meanwhile, Anne is still planning to continue with her duties and has no plans to retire. She was set to travel to the US this year, but the trip will have to be postponed due to the pandemic.
