The investigation into the supposed abuse Joss Whedon perpetrated on the set of Justice League has taken another tone after a co-star has come out in support of Ray Fisher, the actor who first brought the allegations to light.
Variety reports that Aquaman star Jason Momoa has come out in support of his Justice League co-star Ray Fisher. The star did so by posting a photo of Fisher on his Instagram story and captioning it with the hashtag #IStandWithRayFisher.
Fisher quickly reposted a screenshot of the Instagram story on his Twitter account, captioning it with “Let’s Go!!!” and “Accountability>Entertainment.” As of this writing, the Twitter post has now gained more than 9,000 likes.
However, Deadline notes that Momoa’s expression of support is only relegated to his Instagram story, which only stays up for 24 hours on his account. There are no other supportive messages for Fisher to be found on his Instagram feed.
That said, this expression of support strengthens Fisher’s position, especially after he was recently called out by Warner Bros. for refusing to cooperate with the investigation being made into Whedon’s behavior.
Warner Bros. made the statement after Fisher claimed that DC Films president Walter Hamada was throwing Whedon and former Warner Bros. co-president of production Jon Berg under the bus to protect former DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer, Geoff Johns.
A representative from Warner Bros. said that the claims made by Fisher about Hamada are false, pointing out that Hamada had no involvement with Justice League while it was being filmed.
Fisher fired back by saying that the statement was a desperate and scattershot attempt to discredit him. The actor further claimed that the investigator hired by Warner Bros. Pictures had included another person on the line during their interview without telling him about it.
The actor then said that this move was an escalation by Warner Bros. but assured his followers that he would be able to meet the challenge.
Aside from Whedon, other personalities that have recently been called out for abusive behavior include Ellen DeGeneres, showrunner Peter Lenkov, and actress Lea Michele.
Warner Bros. has also conducted an investigation on the allegations of toxicity at The Ellen DeGeneres Show, resulting in the removal of three senior producers and the introduction for new perks for the show’s staff.
Meanwhile, MacGyver showrunner Lenkov was called out by his show’s star, Lucas Till. The actor claimed that he was also driven to suicide by Lenkov’s verbal abuse, bullying, and body-shaming.
Michele, on the other hand, was called out by her former Glee co-star Samantha Ware, who claimed that the actress made her life on the set “a living hell.”
