Meghan Markle reportedly clashed with the senior staff at the Buckingham Palace due to her outrageous demands.
While speaking with The New Yorker, royal expert Camilla Tominey revealed that some palace aides. who have been working for the Queen and Prince Charles for years, disliked the Duchess of Sussex.
In fact, the majority of them didn’t approve of her Hollywood past. They were reportedly less enamored of the very qualities that endeared Prince Harry’s wife to the press.
Tominey also said that there was a clash of cultures between Markle and the palace aides. They weren’t a fan of her showbiz luster, her self-confidence, and her feminist habits of an assertion.
“It’s a bit like Downton Abbey - there’s a hierarchy of staff who have been at Buckingham Palace for years and years, to serve Queen and country,” Tominey said. “And, therefore, for Harry and Meghan to be making demands, there was a bit of below-stairs chatter, particularly with the Duchess, that was, 'Well, hang on a minute, who do you think you are?’” she added.
Last year, television star Nicola McLean claimed that a lot of the bad press directed at Markle was coming from Buckingham Palace staff.
During her interview on the “Jeremy Vine Show,” McLean accused the staff and the other critics of being too hard on Markle and Prince Harry. However, the actress failed to give concrete examples of the negative things that the staff have been saying about the “Suits” alum.
And when Express tried to reach out to the royal aides for comment, they refused to respond to McLean’s allegations.
Markle announced her decision to quit the royal family in January after enduring months of painful criticisms from the public. At that time, royal writer Ashley Pearson told Market Watch that the Duchess of Sussex was the one that encouraged Prince Harry to also quit.
Pearson claimed that Markle had no idea what she was getting into when she agreed to marry Prince Harry. The former Hollywood star didn’t also have any idea how unglamorous royal life can be.
“She had no idea how un-glamorous it really is to be a royal and when she found out she would be a civil servant in a tiara, she was like, ‘no way,’” Pearson said.
Royal writer Tom McTague told The Atlantic that Prince Harry and Markle quit The Firm because of their desire to be progressive. Unfortunately, the royal family cannot be described as such.
