In an unexpected move by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a new deal between streaming giant, Netflix and the couple has unraveled. Now, the two have catapulted to the headlines, making groundbreaking decisions after their exit from the Royal family.
According to sources, Harry and Meghan Markle are making waves and creating their own brand, away from the Sussex’s. The ‘megawatt’ deal the couple has made is just the start for the couple.
With this decision, people believe that Harry and Meghan are looking at following the footsteps of their good friends, Barack and Michelle Obama.
In the past, Meghan saw Michelle as a model and has been influenced by the former First Lady of the United States in her approach to important matters.
The Obama’s had signed a deal with Netflix around 2 years ago. Experts are projecting that Meghan has political dreams and that the Netflix deal is a platform for Meghan to increase her popularity and give her a bigger platform to reach out a worldwide audience.
Celebrity agent, Jonathan Shalit commented on Meghan Markle’s political hopes, “She’s American-born, she has every right to run for President, Ronald Reagan was a B-list actor who ended up in the White House. Never say never. The perception of the couple in America is different to the UK. The UK has a love-hate relationship with the Sussexes, but it’s different in the States.”
Mr. Shalit continued on to say that Meghan is a very ambitious woman, and although the perception of ‘Ambitious’ in the US is negative, Meghan’s achievements may counter that perception.
It is not uncommon for celebrities to go into politics. Former President Ronald Reagan was an A-list actor before he ran for office. His charm was deadlier as a politician than an actor.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, a famous action star also ran for office of Governor for the State of California, which he won.
Meghan Markle is not the first and will not be the last to aspire as a celebrity turned politician.
With Meghan’s appearance for many organizations that are politically active, the rumors of the Duchess looking at a political career is not too far. The Duchess recently spoke with Gloria Steinem, a fellow activist, in an interview, the two women talked about women’s voting right as well as bring change.
Meghan was also involved in an initiative co-founded by Michelle Obama, ‘When All Women Vote’, where Meghan called out for women to register to vote for the upcoming elections. The Duchess’ speech influenced over 300,000 women to register.
