The hierarchy to the British throne is not as complicated as it used to be, back then wars and usurpers were the main problems when it comes to the British throne. Now, a clear line of succession is laid down for everyone to see.
Queen Elizabeth II, 94, has been the longest reigning royal in the history of the Monarchy, at a young age of 21, she was crowned Regent and has been in rule for 70 years now.
But the history of her crowning was not an easy one, and now the talks of the next heir to the throne is being discussed more often.
The age of the Queen is a big concern for the British Parliament, sooner or later the Queen will not be able to rule and her son, Prince Charles will need to be crowned. The Prince is 71 years old and is the most prepared heir apparent in the history of the British Monarchy.
Prince Charles is also the oldest heir apparent and he has had numerous decades to prepare his role for King, but there are talks that the Prince has plans to abdicate and pass the crown immediately to his eldest son, Prince William.
Experts believe that Charles will have no problem abdicating in favor of his much younger son, but the Queen will be adamant that this will not happen. The history of abdication in the royal family has only generated so much grief for all of them.
"That would be a matter for Prince Charles, and for Parliament. For the Queen, abdication is said to be unthinkable, for two reasons. The first is the bad example of Edward VIII: his abdication brought the Queen's father onto the throne, unexpectedly and most reluctantly. The second is her declaration on her twenty-first birthday that she would serve for her whole life whether it be long or short. She is also said to regard her oath at her coronation as imposing a sacred duty to reign as long as she shall live”, Constitutional experts at University College London's Constitution Unit have explained on Charles rumored abdication.
There is also the question of the title Prince Charles's current wife, Camilla will be given. Many believe that Camilla, out of respect for the late Princess Diana, will not accept the title ‘Queen Consort’, rather she will end up using ‘Princess Consort’.
Camilla has not been given the title of ‘Princess of Wales’, currently Diana is still the ‘Princess of Wales’ but once Charles becomes King, this title shall be passed to William’s wife, Kate Middleton.
