David Benioff and Dan Weiss who created a successful and most hyped show, Game of Thrones are now set to work on their new sci-fi project. The co-creators have officially announced that they are going to adapt The Three-Body Problem, which is the most acclaimed novel.

Their previous hit, Game of Thrones was also adapted by A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin that falls into the high fantasy genre. This time, the duo will provide their fans with a sci-fi drama originally written by Liu Cixin.

Benioff, 49, and Weiss, 49 have roped in Alexander Woo, who is a writer-producer for this upcoming project. The series novel was published in China originally and received a considerable amount of praise in 2008. However, Ken Liu did the English translation of the saga that made novel Asia's first-ever debut book in 2014 to earn the Hugo Award for Best Novel.

"Liu Cixin’s trilogy is the most ambitious science-fiction series we’ve read, taking readers on a journey from the 1960s until the end of time," the duo said in their official statement.

Benioff and Weiss said that they are looking forward to bring this novel to life and spend years on it to cater to the audience across the globe. Woo acknowledged the fact that it is one of the masterpieces in China's sci-fi genre and he feels privileged to work on its adaptation.

The Writers Guild of America Award nominee said that The Three-Body Problem trilogy has been integrated with several things that he loves. The story stakes are higher as there are true existential questions, the characters involved in the plot has various layers and it has a rich flavor.

As the title of the movie refers, there is a physics problem that computes the trajectory of bodies interacting. As per the novel, the author has mentioned three stars who make it difficult for living creatures on a planet like Earth.

Ken Liu and Liu Cixin will be consulting producers on the English adaption. However, the author of the original Chinese book has issued a statement that displayed criticism for the creators. Besides that, there are several familiar executive producers who worked on Game of Thrones and Star Wars: The Last Jedi have joined the project.

The show is being created for Netflix. Peter Friedlander also spoke about the project and said that it changed the way he used to look at science fiction movies.
