Famous singer Adele is in hot water recently, the ‘Hello’ singer was criticized recently in her newest post on Instagram. Adele shared a photo of her looking fabulous and healthy in a Jamaican flag beach top. The singer was also wearing her hair in Bantu braids and was called out by netizens for apparently appropriating Black culture.
Adele posted on her Instagram a photo of her wearing Bantu braids and a controversial top, she was celebrating the Notting Hill Carnival, which was canceled due to the pandemic, in her $9 million backyard.
Despite the wave of criticisms for her actions, Adele did not take down her post on Instagram. A flood of supporters was also backing the multiple Grammy award singer.
Artists have come to her side and praised Adele for her amazing post. Famous model Naomi Campbell commented under her Instagram post with two heart emojis.
Fellow singer, Alexandra Burke also sided with Adele and praised her as well, saying, “'I see the pic. She looks hot. She's obviously been working on her body, that for me is a big deal. She’s looking good. As a Jamaican girl myself, my girl has grown up in black culture. People forget she’s from Tottenham. She probably eats jerk chicken all the time like all of us. All I’m saying is the girl looked good, leave her. Allow her man. If Popcaan is going to endorse it and say yes my girl you’re wearing the flag and you’re wearing it well. Let her live her best life, leave her alone. We love Adele."
DJ Ace also chimed in that he loved the picture and that he loves Adele for being her true self.
Fans of the songstress also aided Adele as they explained to the myriad of haters, that Adele was brought up in Tottenham, London. Tottenham is a well-known area where a large Jamaican community resides.
Fans exclaimed that Adele was not at all appropriating the culture of Jamaican people but she was instead appreciating the culture.
The singer also got a lot of hate for having a party despite the rising COVID cases in America. People were calling her out for being irresponsible.
Adele has not commented on these matters.
The singer also gained praise for her weight loss and the recent post she shared showed her slim figure. Actress Zoe Saldana commented on her physical attributes rather than the matter of her appropriating culture.
