Gavin Rossdale is reportedly facing a big dilemma over his joint custody of his three kids with ex-wife, Gwen Stefani.
During his interview on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation,” the musician said that the coronavirus pandemic is especially tricky for divorced parents. After all, their kids are more susceptible to getting hit hard by the deadly virus because they go back and forth from one parent’s home to the other.
Rossdale said that his children Kingston, 13, Zuma, 11, and Apollo, 6, spent the first two weeks of the lockdown with him. Shortly after, the trio moved to Blake Shelton’s home in Oklahoma which he shares with his girlfriend Stefani.
The musician is most concerned about his children’s health since he doesn’t know who exactly they are interacting with when they are out of his sight.
“I know who’s around me – no one is. And I know who’s bringing me the coronavirus – no one is. But you send your kids out to someone else, and they come back to you and now you’re prone to whoever they’re with. It’s a tricky one for all divorced parents,” Rossdale said.
The musician has not seen his children in almost two weeks but he regularly keeps in touch with them via FaceTime. As of late, it is still unclear when Rossdale would get to reunite with his and Stefani’s kids.
In 2018, E! News reported that the former couple has not agreed on the terms of their custody agreement. Rossdale and Stefani struggled to find a middle ground when it comes to their time with Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.
A source told the publication that the No Doubt singer believes that it’s best if their children stay with her because Rossdale is always on tour. Stefani is also reportedly convinced that her ex-husband is still living a rock star lifestyle that may not be ideal for their growing children.
The source went on to say that Stefani also wants to raise her kids in a certain way that Rossdale is not agreeable to.
Stefani and Rossdale announced their divorce in 2016 amid reports that the latter cheated on the “Hollaback Girl” singer. While speaking with Glamour, the former “The Voice” coach admitted that her marriage to Rossdale was extra hard.
She said that since they were from different countries, were both involved in the music industry, and are celebrities, she felt the need to work harder for their relationship to succeed. In the end, the former couple just decided that it was best for them to go their separate ways.
