In the recent interview, the singer yelled out to Esquire, but no tracks from his 'My Dear Melancholy' EP in 2018 made to the list. The said collection of songs follows months after his split with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez.
According to Hollywood Life, The Weeknd's 2018 EP bottles up songs that referred to his breakups with Gomez and as well as the singer's other famous ex-girlfriend, supermodel Bella Hadid.
Despite not including the said extended play on his best songs list, The Weeknd revealed essential details about the album's creation during his interview with the fashion magazine. "The reason why it was so short is like, I think I just had nothing else to say on this," he said. The Weeknd also explained that the album is a "cathartic piece of art," He made it short because that's what he felt like sharing on that specific time.
The interview went on with the Canadian singer revealing that making the album made him feel so much better, considering his split with Gomez is still at its fresh pace at that time. The 'Blinding Lights' singer added that the album would undoubtedly suck if he hadn't used his post-breakup sentiments towards its creation.
According to ET, the 'Starboy' singer began his prominent relationship with the Disney alum shortly after his breakup with Hadid. The singer and Gomez started their dating phase from January of 2017, then calling it quits in November the same year. Gomez's separation from The Weeknd sparked a comeback romance with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber again. However, it didn't last that long.
Meanwhile, the Canadian singer found his way back to Hadid in 2018 and lasted for over a year. To date, The Weeknd and the Victoria's Secret Angel remain to be good friends despite their past relationship didn't work well.
The track from the singer's 'My Dear Melancholy' album that caught the listeners' attention was 'Call Out My Name.' Fans have been pointing out the song to be the nearest story of their idol's relationship with the 'Rare Beauty' CEO. The music's specific lyric that highlights Gomez's move in trying to get back with Bieber goes like this: "Guess I was just another pit stop 'til you made up your mind."
Another vast revelation shared by The Weeknd is his decision to give his girlfriend at that time his kidney when Gomez needed to undergo a kidney transplant in 2017.
