Over the years, Ellen DeGeneres was touted as a comedian with a heart of gold, but questions were raised about her flawless reputation after a slew of reports about her being ultra rude to her staff began doing the rounds online earlier this month. She is, reportedly, working on damage control to not just protect her reputation but also ensure that her show keeps running.
Back in July this year, BuzzFeed published an article about a former employee of Ellen's talk show accused her of neglecting the toxic work culture, complaining that she wasn't involved enough to see what was going on. In the wake of these allegations, fans have identified some awkward moments on DeGeneres’ talk show, including Celine Dion’s interview in which the songstress clapped back at the host for poking joke at her son's long hair.
Dion appeared on the talk show back in 2007 to promote her album when the subject of the singer's son's long hair came up. DeGeneres joked about Dion being so busy that she doesn't find time to cut her son's hair and then showed multiple photos of the singer and her son Rene-Charles Angelil, and even her then-husband.
Noting that her son looked beautiful, DeGeneres asked Dion when she was going to cut his hair. Displeased with that question, Dion asked the host if she had a problem with her son's long hair. DeGeneres clapped back noting that she doesn't have a problem.
The "My Heart Will Go On" singer noted that people tend to have a problem with whatever she chooses to do with her son's hair. “Whatever I will do, I won’t please everyone,” she explained. She also clarified that her son makes his own decision and he will cut his hair and when he is ready.
With things beginning to get tense, DeGeneres cut the conversation off as soon as she got a chance to say something. Fans applauded Dion for defending her son's long hair as they probably thought it was out of line for DeGeneres to talk about her son's long hair.
Fans took to the comments section of the video posted on Celine Dion Greece YouTube channel to call out Ellen for making an unnecessary comment about the singer's son's hair. One fan pointed out that Ellen has been either rude or lukewarm to Dion over the years, while another fan said it was very rude how Ellen bluntly asked the question and was critical about it.
