Tom Ellis who portrayed Lucifer's title role opened up about the fifth season, his wardrobe, and more. As the latest season of Lucifer streamed on Netflix, the 41-year-old actor spoke about his three-piece suit that is tailored magnificently.
However, Ellis revealed that he isn't a huge fan of dressing up in real life and currently he isn't taking much care about his wardrobe as he is portraying Lucifer's brother Michael. Although they are look alike.
"Michael’s wardrobe [includes] the most disgusting flat-footed loafers I’ve ever seen. He loves a turtleneck, somehow. And he’s also heavily into tweed," Ellis said. The actor explained how he wanted both the characters' poles apart.
As an actor, Ellis pulled off the character of cunning Michael and seductive with a hint of charm Lucifer at the same time. Both characters are widely different from one another. Ellis agreed that Lucifer loves to stay in style while Michael is someone who likes to keep it low and doesn't care about his outfits.
The Secret of Crickley Hall star jokingly said that if Michael's character was given a computer and internet, he might start trolling on social media with a random handle such as @BitterAngel. The season starts with Lucifer who is taking care of the Hell and Detective Chloe Decker portrayed by Lauren German is a broken heart.
In the last season, Decker's character acknowledged her love for Lucifer before he left the planet earth. However, in the fifth season twin brother Michael decides to visit the Earth, which was revealed in the trailer.
While Lucifer is away, Michael overtakes his life and his intentions seemed to be much worse than Lucifer in previous seasons. Ellis admitted that juggling between Lucifer and Michael's character who has an American-accent gave him an adrenaline rush.
The actor told that he felt being in a reality show such as Challenge Anneka that aired in the United Kingdom. Ellis explained that the woman in the reality show had to build a school or something big in a couple of days with the help of community people.
Ellis said he felt similar to that woman. Although he loved running around and performing for both the characters. The actor said that he has now mastered the process of switching on and off the characters quickly. He further disclosed that he had to find reasons why Michael is physically different than Lucifer and that worked like a charm.
