Prince Harry just silenced the ongoing rumors that he’s struggling financially.
Last week, reports confirmed that he and Meghan Markle just purchased their first home in Santa Barbara. The Sussexes, reportedly, loaned over $9 million but paid over $5 million for the property.
Prince Harry and Markle didn’t ask Prince Charles for financial help in buying their first home as a couple.
“Harry could’ve asked [Prince] Charles to contribute toward the cost of the house, but he chose not to... Getting his dad financially involved would result in the royals having control over him. It would mean going backward,” a source told Us Weekly.
The source also said that Prince Harry and Markle saw their purchase a huge investment. And since the price was, reportedly, a steal, they felt they couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
“Meghan’s confident they’ll make a hefty profit if they ever decide to sell up. And on the upside, at least their security costs have been reduced. Their new home is gated and secure. They still have bodyguards but no longer need as many,” the source said.
But even though Prince Harry didn’t ask Prince Charles to help him pay for his new house, reports revealed that the heir to the throne is still helping his son financially.
In the book Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand said that Prince Charles never stopped helping the Sussexes financially. The authors also said that Prince Charles isn’t furious at the Sussexes for quitting The Firm.
However, a tabloid decided to create a dubious claim about Prince Charles and Prince Harry recently. And they even went as far as involving Camilla Parker Bowles in their questionable story.
According to Woman’s Day, the Duchess of Cornwall thinks that Prince Harry is ungrateful. As such, she has, allegedly, encouraged Prince Charles to stop supporting his youngest son financially.
“While all this is going on, with the institution’s reputation in tatters and grieving a once tight-knit family dynamic, Harry still has the guts to phone his dad up to ask for money. It’s completely galling to Camilla. After everything Harry has put his father through, complained about, and thrown tantrums over, he’s still coming cap in hand back to the Duchy of Cornwall for pocket money,” the source said.
However, based on what Scobie and Durand said, the claims made by the tabloid are false.
