Many fans got so excited after Netflix confirmed that Sweet Magnolias Season 2 is, totally, happening. Since there have been no official details about what to transpire in the imminent second installment, rumors and theories about it have started sprouting here and there.
It can be recalled that the first season of the well-loved Netflix series concluded on a big cliffhanger after that tragic car accident involving Maddie Townsend’s (Joanna Garcia Swisher) son, Kyle (Logan Allen). It remains to be seen if there is another person insider the crashed car aside from Kyle.
Before the accident, Kyle, Carson (Carson Rowland), and Annie Sullivan (Anneliese Judge) were sighted in an after-party organized by Jackson Lewis (Sam Ashby). Avid viewers of the show expect that Sweet Magnolias Season 2 will pick up where Season 1 left off.
In May, as per Digital Spy, series co-executive producer Norman Buckley said he hopes that the American streaming giant would consider renewing Sweet Magnolias, which is based on Sherryl Woods’ book series of the same name. The author, at the time, was hopeful that the series would get another season to continue its story about redemption, adding that fans would be pleased about the characters’ fate in Sweet Magnolias Season 2.
Chris Klein, who portrayed the role of Bill Townsend in Season 1, even shared his thoughts about the possibility of the show getting a renewal.
"I do believe it was always [executive producers] Dan Paulson and Sheryl J Anderson's goal to move this beyond season one, and the way that the story fills out and fleshes out, we could definitely pick it up and tell more of these characters' stories,” the actor told The Sun. “I, for one, really, really hope that we get that opportunity. Selfishly because I want to see what happens to Bill Townsend,” he went on.
Sweet Magnolias Season 2 is expected to feature the three main characters, namely: Joanna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley. Aside from them, Logan Allen, Annaliese Judge, Carson Rowland, Justin Bruening, Chris Klein, Jamie Lynn Spears, Dion Johnstone, Chris Medlin, Bianca Berry Tarantino, Frank Oakley III, Allison Gabriel, Sam Ashby, and Harlan Drum are likely to make a comeback as well.
Netflix has yet to announce the official release date of the forthcoming Sweet Magnolias Season 2, especially since no one is willing to go back to work yet until it is safe to do so. So, fans could wait for quite some time for the second installment.
