Brad Pitt is a superstar today and has played the lead role in dozens of movies. However, the actor was almost shown the boots when he started his film career as an extra.

Pitt is an Academy Award-winning actor today but before reaching the heights of his career, there was a time that he struggled when he first entered the Entertainment business. Though he studied journalism at the University of Missouri, he wanted to pursue a career in acting.

The Troy actor told during his interaction with Leonard Maltin earlier this year that he was hit by the acting bug, Collider reports. He always thought there was a lack of opportunity for aspiring actors in Southern Missouri.

So, the Hollywood A-lister decided to drop out of his university and try his luck in acting. The moment he reached Los Angeles, the Fight Club star started hunting for acting jobs.

The actor went to McDonald’s and he had a meager $275 in his pocket then. He read in the newspaper that people could sign up if they wanted extra work.

Pitt decided to sign up for three different places and paid $25 as the signup amount. He was called for an industrial movie in just a week and he was excited.

While the actor was trying to get small roles, he understood that it was important to connect to SAG to get a proper break in the industry. He worked as an extra for around a couple of years.

However, it was a paradoxical situation for him. An actor should have a line to get access to his/her SAG card while to get a line, they were required to have their SAG cards.

Brad Pitt decided to do the role of an extra in a D. B. Sweeney, Charlie Sheen film. The actor still recalls the grand dinner scene where he had to make an entry as a waiter. The actor had to pour champagne in a scene and thought he had to try it.

The movie Pitt referred to is No Man’s Land, which released way back in 1987. He spoke an impromptu line “Would you like anything else?” to a young actress.

However, his action almost dismissed him from the movie because he was not given that dialog. The Assistant Director came up to him that if tries something like that again, he would be fired from the film.

Though Brad Pitt was unsuccessful in his ruse, luck was on his side. The actor went on to be known as one of Hollywood’s most famous and talented actors, Showbiz Cheat Sheet reports.
