TikTok is a video-sharing social media app owned by ByteDance. It is an internet technology company based in Beijing China, founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming. Those who are not familiar with the app are used to create and record short music where subscribers can dance, sing, or do lip-sync in 3 to 15 seconds or a short looping video of 3 to 60 seconds.
On the news released by The Verge on August 6 (Thursday), US President Donald Trump had signed an executive order that blocks all transactions with ByteDance. It has a 45-day deadline, though, and not effective immediately.
Trump believes that the expansion of apps controlled and owned by the Chinese government terrorizes the US economy and national security. Furthermore, the aggressive action taken is to protect the country's national security against the owners of TikTok.
Zack King, one of the most followed TikTok Influencer, has expressed his thoughts about how this doable US ban can hurt the young creators. According to Google News-Post, he spoke exclusively with Hollywood Lifestyles regarding the matter.
King thinks that the ban is a bummer since, in social media, more players need to compete with Facebook and Google, and there's not a lot of options for a creator landscape. He also added that TikTok was starting to come up and is still developing its marketplace for the young creators. With TikTok's removal from the scene, King believes that it will potentially hurt the creators at the mid to lower-tier who are just getting started.
He also believes that since millions of people make a carrier out on social media, TikTok has allowed that chance for the young creators with potential. The thought of it going away will sadden the beginners and will have to start again somewhere else. He also mentioned that he has many friends on TikTok, and they think they are all going to be okay since they have already made a name on YouTube and other social media platforms.
What worries them are their other friends being on the lower grade at around having 2 to 5 million followers only who will be significantly affected by the ban and will have to figure something out as their next step.
King is a 30-year-old American internet personality from Los Angeles who is most known in Vines for his "digital sleight of hand" or magic. He first started in 2008 by posting videos on YouTube and garnered 7 million subscribers and then Vines in 2013. King began to his TikTok videos in 2016 and garnered over 45 million followers since then, making him the 3rd most-followed on the platform.
