Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is all set to get revival on the television. Reportedly, the Fresh Prince will return in the reboot that is named Bel-Air. It is going to be a series based on the original The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air by Morgan Cooper. The project is in the pitching phase.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith will ensure that the hour-long series will get Universal TV and Westbrook Studios to take the project ahead. Cooper is roped in as a co-executive producer and director of the show.
The multi-talented director will also accompany Chris Collins to pen down the potential reboot. Collins will be the showrunner and executive producer on the show. In fact, the last year he has been part of a big action project, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
Cooper shared the idea of rebooting the 90's sitcom being a gritty and dark narrative in 2019. Bel-Air will tell a story that will be more problematic compared to the original series that was about a teenager who moved to a glamorous and glitzy city.
In the original series, the teen kid moved to the big city and showcased how he dealt coming from West Philadelphia. The 51-year-old megastar appeared on The Graham Norton Show in 2017, where he admitted that it was troublesome to look out for the comedy again that rose him to the fame.
“It was my very first role, and I was very, very focused on being successful, so I learned the whole script and everyone else’s lines. If you watch the first four or five episodes, you can see I’m mouthing other people’s lines," The Pursuit of Happyness star explained. He further added how terrible it is to watch those episodes now.
The MTV Generation Award winner had a reunion with the original cast members of the show in May. The reunion included actors such as DJ Jazzy Jeff, Tatyana Ali, Alfonso Ribeiro, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Karyn Parsons, and Joseph Marcell.
The actors shared their respective experiences working on the show that was on air for six years. The actors mentioned the fame they gained between 1990 to 1996 and their careers at the moment. However, one of the cast members was missed during the reunion.
James Avery who portrayed Philip Banks' character died in 2013 due to surgical complications in Glendale, California. All the co-stars paid him a tribute and remember his work as Uncle Phil. Reid said that he simply loved him on the series.
