Stevie Nicks begged her loyal fans to pay heed to the recommendations of health experts and wear masks. Giving warning that if they won't, she might not be able to sing again as her chance of contracting the virus will be higher.
The singer raised concerns over the rise in coronavirus cases across the United States and urged her fans to follow precautionary measures during the pandemic, noting that Americans are dying as to some people refuse to wear a mask.
The Fleetwood Mac vocalist, 72, shared a post on Facebook about what the novel coronavirus can do once it enters the human body. In her post, she asked her fans if they were aware of the fact that those who survive the virus will be fighting the after-effects for the rest of their lives.
The after-effects include having micro-blood clots in all organs including the brain. She went on to add that survivors will be left with neurological problems, a continuous cough that feels like is ripping the throat apart. She said if she ends up contracting the virus, she might never be able to sing again.
Noting that she doesn't have much time, Nicks said if she ends up being on a ventilator, she will be hoarse for the rest of her life. "This virus can kill you. It can kill me," she wrote in the post. The singer noted that she gets sick with the virus, she will never be able to hit the road and kill the chances of the music community returning to the stage, because performers would never want to put their fans in danger, PEOPLE reported.
She asked her fans to never take their lives for granted, noting that they do not put older and more fragile members of their families in danger, but do not feel the same when it comes to their own safety, thinking they are immortal. Reminding her fans that they aren't imperishable, Nicks said the virus can change their life forever and steal their beauty and they will age as they fight for their lives, fight to their way back, provided they survive.
Later in her post, Nicks called out those aren't taking the guideline of wearing a simple mask seriously, adding that wearing masks and social distancing has become a political statement, while it is not. Se described COVID-19 as a silent killer that hides in the shadow, stalking its next victim regardless of who they are.
