Princess Anne will be celebrating her 70th birthday on August 15.
Days before her special day, Princess Anne, reportedly, had a private lunch with Queen Elizabeth at Frogmore House. According to New Idea, no other member of the royal family was present at that time.
Prior to Princess Anne’s birthday, the queen also paid tribute to her only daughter. On the official royal family Instagram account, several photos of Princess Anne were shared.
In the throwback photos, the monarch is carrying Princess Anne in her arms while Prince Charles and Prince Philip are standing beside her. In another photo, Princess Anne is sitting on her mom’s lap.
Photos from the 1970s show Princess Anne carrying her son, Peter Phillips on her shoulder. Another photo shows her attending an official royal engagement with Her Majesty.
In the documentary Anne: The Princess Royal at 70, Princess Anne’s second husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence talked about his wife of 28 years.
“She is not a person that is constantly looking for praise. She gets on and does her work regardless because she thinks it’s important,” he said.
Princess Anne’s second child, Zara Tindall also appeared in the new documentary. She said that her mom is very down-to-earth.
“She’s come home from engagements in exactly what she was wearing, makeup on. Put her welly boots on, jacket on, do her chickens, and get her eggs,” the source said.
During a previous interview, Princess Anne proved just how simple she really is. When talking about her birthday, she said that it would be nice if it the occasion was just another year passed.
Despite all the praises that she has been receiving, Princess Royal still doesn’t want to think of herself as a trailblazer.
“One of the oddities about my life is that I never either felt that or was encouraged to be that. I’m afraid I was really bad at that role model bit,” she said.
Despite her humility, Princess Anne still remains to be one of the most sought after members of the royal family. For the past two years, she has been dubbed as one of the hardest working members of the British clan.
Even though she regularly performs her duties on behalf of the queen, Princess Anne doesn’t get much press coverage. And this is exactly how she wants things to be.
