The Young and the Restless fame, Melody Thomas opened up about her childhood experiences that were extremely traumatic. Thomas spoke about her journey to fame during an interview with Nischelle Turner.
In this zoom interview, the 64-year-old actress shared details about her grandmother who wanted her to become famous in the entertainment industry. In this candid interview, Thomas admitted that her grandmother was fine with many men to abuse her body sexually for the sake of getting a role.
The actress began her career when she was eight-years-old. The Daytime Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Lead Actress wrote a book called Always Young and Restless that mentioned detailed incidents in her life and how she made her way in acting.
Thomas admitted that according to her grandmother, no matter what happens to her in contemplation of getting a role. “She would get there and watch -- I would see her doing it with [my] wild eyes [expressing,] ‘Do you see what's happening here? Please save me’ and there would be no saving. Her behavior got worse and worse and worse, so by the time I was a teenager it was just madness,” she explained.
Although Thomas said she became stronger because of such ruthless experience in her childhood, her teenage years were crazy. She revealed being strong was the only option in order to survive the madness around her. While the entire scenario was difficult but eventually she learned "perseverance".
However, her determination led to building a successful six-decade-long career in the industry. In her latest book which is expected to release on Aug. 18, she mentioned about lows and highs of working as an actress. She disclosed being a choice for Marcia Brady's character in The Brady Bunch.
Maureen McCormick was a good friend of Thomas back in the day. Considering the role, Thomas thought either she was too tall or short for the role played by McCormick in the 1969 sitcom. Thomas got a daytime sitcom in which she portrayed Nikki Newman's character and successfully been part of the show for almost forty years.
The Young and the Restless was off-air for seventeen weeks due to the ongoing pandemic crisis. The cast members are going to begin shooting soon while considering the safety measures.
Thomas said that there are no lovemaking scenes yet, neither she thinks it is going to happen anytime soon. On her personal front, she is happily married for 34 years to Ed Scott.
