The 26-year-old songstress, Keke Palmer, is due to master the forthcoming 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. The big reveal was through a video revelation of Keke herself uploaded on MTV's official Youtube channel on August 7 (Friday).

The candid video announcement had the American actress and singer video call her self with "Tru Jackson V.P.' as the other person. "Tru Jackson V.P." is a character played by Keke in Nickelodeon from 2008-2011, Variety reported.

The songstress concluded that one minute and 42-second video by making alterations to the lyrics of the awards show's theme soundtrack to commemorate her anointment as host of this year's VMAs.

In a statement by the ViacomCBS' President of Music, Music Talent, Programming, and Events Bruce Gillmer, he says that the organization is "thrilled" to have Keke for this year's event host. Gillmer describes the songstress as the best "multi-talented" artist that fits the role. Furthermore, Gillmer added that 'Hustlers' cast's energetic force and comedic wit will add to the show's spice as she is best known for having a say to relevant topics. "[She] will make this year's show truly unforgettable," Gillmer added.

The forthcoming 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will be taking place in The Big Apple on August 30 (Sunday). The extravagant event will give prominence to performances from five diverse locations in New York City. The style up of sites purposely planned to pay tribute to American spirit and resilience as the renowned city was madly scarred by the deadly COVID-19, making it the virus' epicenter.

The performers' roster was unveiled previously by the award-giving organization that listed rapper Doja Cat, Latin singer J Balvin, and South Korean breakthrough artists BTS. Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga top this year's nominations.

Keke recently became viral with a video clip of the activist demanding the sole members of the National Guard to tread with "racial justice protestors" in Los Angeles, according to Hollywood Reporter.

The viral video sees Keke's participation in the protest, including the Black Lives Matter movement in dedication for George Floyd's death and the POTUS Donald Trump's cryptic tweet that reads: "when the looting starts, the shooting starts."

The actress also revealed that the Nickelodeon comedy show that she starred would have a reboot by 2021. The actress shared the announcement through the online video sharing application TikTok where she grooved with the program's theme song.

The 2020 MTV VMAs will air live on the 30th at 8 P.M. PT/ET.
