Keanu Reeves fans have been waiting for a long time for the fourth installment of John Wick to premiere. While John Wick 4 is under development, the creators have announced that they working on John Wick 5 simultaneously.

The entertainment company named Lionsgate that is responsible for movies such as The Hunger Games, Now You See Me 2, Rambo, The Day After Tomorrow, and The Last Witch Hunter has confirmed that the next two installments of John Wick will film together.

This is the first announcement regarding the fifth installment of the popular franchise. John Wick 4 will showcase Reeves’ character as a retired hitman, once again while the release date has been scheduled for a premiere on May 27, 2022.

Jon Feltheimer, CEO of Lionsgate revealed that the scripts are under development process for the upcoming two installments of the franchise. "We're busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our John Wick action franchise. We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 and 5 back-to-back," Feltheimer added.

The creators are waiting for Reeves to be available next year for the shooting of the much-awaited film. The 55-year-old Canadian actor is currently busy with The Matrix 4's production work. However, the shooting of the fourth installment of the sci-fi action movie has been put on a hold due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Although the release of all the highly anticipated upcoming installments is put on hold. The filming is based on when the restrictions are lifted. The film creators are concerned about the health measures due to the crisis and unless the safety guidelines are issued, the release might get pushed to a further date.

The fourth and fifth installments of John Wick franchise will follow the pattern of Reeves portraying the hitman's character. Wick’s character will be seen chased by other deadly agents that will ensure fans receive well-executed choreographed action scenes.

Previously, all three installments of the franchise have been released that received success at the box office while John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum bagged $300 million box office collection. Besides Reeves’ projects, there is a spin-off series under development for television audience named The Continental.

The difference between the John Wick franchise and The Continental will be the lead character that is based on a female assassin named Ballerina. Len Wiseman will direct the television show and it has been written by Shay Hatten, who is also responsible for the third installment of John Wick.
